Welcome, all to my 2021 Cheltenham Festival Preview Day 3 Free Tips, I will be writing a preview along with free tips for each day of this year’s biggest horse racing meeting.
The third day of the Cheltenham Festival is Thursday 18th of March and the races for day one are listed below.
I will be covering the biggest races on each day so on day 3 I will be covering the Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle, the Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle, The Ryanair Chase, and the Parnell Properties Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle.
Cheltenham Day 3 Race Schedule
13:30 Marsh Novices’ Chase Grade 1
14:10 Pertemps Final Grade 3
14:50 Ryanair Chase Grade 1
15:30 Stayers’ Hurdle (World Hurdle) Grade 1
16:10 Plate Handicap Chase Grade 3
16:50 Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle Grade 2
17:30 Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Handicap Chase Class 2
The Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle
A very difficult puzzle of a race this one, with the full field when declared possibly being a large one and with them all having to have run in a series of Pertemps qualifiers over the winter months (and the 3m trip).
The one that stands out to me is The Bosses Oscar he has some good results over the 3-mile trip and in big fields, he certainly has bags of stamina and with some rain forecast, he goes well on soft and yielding too.
His stamina will count up that hill coming home.
Previous Pertemps Stats
- 9 of the last 12 winners were 6, 7 or 8 years of age
- 4 of the last 12 winners won on their last race prior to Cheltenham
- 6 of the last 12 winners had raced at least 1 time previously at Cheltenham
- 12 of the last 12 winners had raced at least 6 times over hurdles
The Ryanair Chase
Possibly a case of Min Vs Melon in the Ryanair this year with I feel melon having the slightly better profile this time around.
A Willie Mullins that has proven frustrating to follow at times winning just 3 from 22 runs, but he does save his best for the Cheltenham hill and I would not be surprised to see him involved in the mix up this time around either.
The Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle
Paisley Park has stamina by the bucket load and he has come from miles back to come and win close home a few times now, he will be on the premises and he will certainly give you a run for your money.
The chief threat here could be Sire Du Berlais and Roksana (if running, she is declared for two races this week).
The Parnell Properties Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle
Another tough race to call this but my pick for this is Roseys Hollow she won a grade 3 novice recently over slightly further and has the stamina for this at a possible faster pace than that race.
Dangers would be Hook Up and Royal Kahala , both of which have good form coming into this too.
My Cheltenham Day 3 Yankee
With all four of those selections considered I am going to put them into a Yankee bet (not sure what that is check out my horse racing betting guide)
1.55 – The Bosses Oscar 8/1
2.30 – Melon 7/1
3.05 – Paisley Park 13/8
4.15 – Roseys Hollow 7/1
A 50p Yankee on these would cost about £5.50, but the return if they all win is around £1453.
