Can The Saudis Go Through?
After their first match surprise to beat mighty Argentina, anything is possible and any kind of point here can ensure their progression through to the next round.
They certainly have the quality and organization to do it, but with teams taking the brakes off at the business end of the group stage they could find life a bit tougher than day one.
South American sides have failed to excel for now but they usually grow into the competition so I expect Mexico to fight hard here.
Mexico Gets Into Gear
Mexico did ok in their first match and have since struggled to get into full swing but this could be the fixture where they can get into their stride.
Saudi Arabia will make life very tough for them defensively and will remain dangerous on the counterattack.
Mexico struggled against Poland that looked out of ideas at times and this doesn’t bode well, however when you consider the last time these two teams met the score was 5-1 to Mexico and Mexico won their last 3 meetings with the Saudis albeit in 1999 the last time they ever played each other!
Rankings wise Mexico is ranked 13th in the FIFA World Rankings whilst Saudi Arabia is ranked 51.
Draw Time, Saudi Go Through?
I think if Saudi Arabia plays anything as they did against Argentina they can solidify a place in the last 16 of the competition with a win, but I do think Mexico will pose different questions of their defence.
That being said I don’t think they will break them more than once and I also see the Saudis bagging at least a goal so both teams to score and a draw looks like w sie bet.
I am going to avoid the first goalscorer bet on this one and opt instead for under 1.5 goals in the first half.
