NFC West: 49ers Are an Early Odds-On Favorite

With NFL training camps just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to explore the future markets. NFL betting on FanDuel shows that the NFC West division is one of the most intriguing divisions heading into the 2024 season. The San Francisco 49ers are an early odds-on favorite to win the division, but there are plenty of reasons to believe other teams could challenge their dominance.

San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers are poised for another strong season in 2024 after falling short in the Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs. They’ve comfortably won the NFC West in three of the past five seasons, and NFL FanDuel lists them with -195 odds to win the division again, the second-shortest odds among all divisions. The team will benefit from the return of their core players, including quarterback Brock Purdy, who thrived in Kyle Shanahan’s system.

Offensive stars like Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and George Kittle will continue to be significant playmakers. Defensively, Nick Bosa and Fred Warner lead a stout unit bolstered by additions like Leonard Floyd and Maliek Collins. The return of Dre Greenlaw and Talanoa Hufanga from injuries will further strengthen the squad.

After a stellar 2023 season where they ranked third in points scored and points allowed, the 49ers are well-equipped to remain a dominant force in the NFC.

Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams are set to be a formidable contender in the NFC West this season, blending experience with youthful energy. Veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford brings 16 seasons of wisdom to the field, while young talents like Puka Nacua and Kyren Williams are establishing themselves as offensive powerhouses.

Nacua shattered the NFL’s rookie yardage record with 1,486 receiving yards, and Williams averaged an impressive 95.3 rushing yards per game last year. If Cooper Kupp remains healthy, the Rams’ offense could be a significant threat. On defense, the departure of Aaron Donald leaves a huge void, but the team is hopeful that 2024 draft pick Jared Verse will emerge as a disruptive force.

With experienced head coach Sean McVay at the helm since 2017, the Rams have a proven track record of success in the NFC West, winning the division three times and reaching the Super Bowl twice under his leadership.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are navigating a significant transition in 2024 with a new head coach, Mike Macdonald, at the helm. Macdonald, who previously served as the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens, is tasked with rejuvenating a defense that allowed the third-most yards per game last season.

The Seahawks’ primary focus will be improving their run defense, which was one of the league’s worst in 2023, surrendering 24 rushing touchdowns and ranking second-worst in rushing yards allowed.

Offensively, veterans like quarterback Geno Smith and wide receivers D.K. Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba aim to provide a dynamic and balanced attack. With +750 odds to win the NFC West, Seattle is poised to defy the odds.

Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals are facing another challenging season, with FanDuel Sportsbook setting their win total at just 6.5 games. After consecutive 4-13 campaigns, the Cardinals are eager to turn the tide.

The return of Kyler Murray, who missed significant time due to a torn ACL, is a beacon of hope for the team. Despite his injuries, Murray showcased resilience, achieving 13 all-purpose touchdowns and a 65.7% completion rate in eight games. To bolster their offense, Arizona drafted receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., a generational talent, aiming to fill the void left by Larry Fitzgerald.

Heading into his second year, head coach Jonathan Gannon seeks to improve a defense that allowed 26.8 points per game last season. The Cardinals have +1200 odds to win the NFC West.
