2024 European tennis grand-slam events

Looking at the potential winners of the 2024 European tennis grand-slam events

The tennis calendar is dominated by the quartet of grand slam events, two of which take place on the European continent. The major players want to secure wins in one of the four Opens more than any other competition, and European players especially like to win at venues closer to home.

With the prizes for winning the events being hugely prestigious as well as incredibly lucrative, the level of competition involved is enormous.

In order to predict the winners of future events, results of the past can be utilised. Certain major stars excel on specific courts, meanwhile, players like Novak Djokovic have a tendency to regularly win major titles regardless of where they play their tennis.

The French Open and Wimbledon make up two of the four biggest events in the tennis world annually. But who could emerge as the winners in 2024? Perhaps the prizes could be shared, or one star could dominate and capture multiple grand slam titles in Europe next year.

Nadal to extend his French Open record?

Historically the French Open title has been claimed by Rafael Nadal many more times than anyone else has managed. Nadal has scooped 14 titles in the past 18 years that the French event has been held. In tennis betting odds he is offered at 4/1 to secure a remarkable 15th triumph.

No single player has dominated any grand slam event like the Spaniard has since 2005. He will surely be one of the strongest picks to win the French stop of the Grand Slam tour in 2024, his performances are elevated to remarkable levels on clay courts.

Long-term rival Djokovic will probably present strong opposition to Nadal’s chances of winning. He is offered at 11/4 having claimed the title in the Spaniard’s absence in 2023.

With next year’s event likely to be Nadal’s final visit to his favoured court, it is tough to predict he will not be hugely motivated to find the quality required to claim victory.

2024 could well be Nadal’s final year in tennis; he announced it would likely be his final year following his injury issues. Extending his French Open record will surely be at the top of his priority list as his career winds down to a gradual end.

Aside from the big two, Russian Daniil Medvedev is one of the stars who is a slight outside option to win at Roland Garros next year.

Djokovic could continue his domination at Wimbledon

Wimbledon is arguably the most prestigious grand slam event having attracted the world’s greatest players to compete for well over a century.

If one grand slam event is to stand above the rest then it is certainly the British leg of the four competitions. Wimbledon is an event that Djokovic has frequently won in recent years, having captured seven tournament victories between 2011 and 2022. The Serbian is one of the standout favourites to win a record-tying eighth title in 2024, offered at 8/5.

Djokovic’s British domination could likely continue in 2024 which could allow him to enter the history books yet again for matching another record. Nadal has not managed a Wimbledon win since 2010, and another top competitor Medvedev has not won the title at the event in seven attempts.

Djokovic will surely be involved in the latter stages of both huge European events having reached both finals in 2023 say the Tennis Tipsters. However, Nadal’s strength on the Roland Garros clay court should not be underestimated. He has dominated at the venue throughout his career like no star has done anywhere else across the globe.
