Mexico will take on Poland in the 16:00 kick-off in Group C on Tuesday, in what looks to be the tastiest fixture of the group.
The bookmakers seem to have this down as a game that could go either way, and it could do just that with both sides form a bit in and out coming into this tournament.
Lewandowski To The Rescue?
Poland has arguably one of the best strikers in the world at the moment in the form of Lewandowski, he has scored 9 on the way into this World Cup, though he doesn’t seem to do as well in the finals.
Poland has failed to score in the first half of their last 12 matches which is an interesting stat considering that Mexico does not seem to have that issue.
Mexico are making their eighth consecutive World Cup finals appearance and 17th overall, and this match will mean a lot to them giving them another chance of progressing through to the next stage as they often do yet they have never made it to the final.
Mexico A Surprise Package
Mexico has a great record in World Cup competitions, especially in the group stages, they will certainly cause Poland some issues but the only thing that will remain to be seen is if they can keep a clean sheet at all.
Mexico is ranked 13th in the FIFA World Rankings whilst Poland is currently ranked 26th not a huge gap between the two but Poland’s average ranking is a lot higher than Mexico and Mexico seems a stronger side going forward.
I think Mexico will certainly get through the group stage and of course Argentina, it will be up to Poland to try and get the other spot from Mexico in this game, so if they fail to show up early doors they are in big trouble.
Mexico Vs Poland Prediction
With all things considered Mexico looks like a stronger side going forward, I predict they will cause many issues at the back for Poland. With Poland lacking goals in the first half if Mexico goes 1 or 2 up in the first half the game could be over already by halftime.
I do think Poland will score though and it’s about time Lewandowski got a goal so he is a wise bet for any time goalscorer in this fixture. Both teams to score seems highly likely given Mexico’s defending skills at times.
The most likely outcome for me is a Mexico win, but with Poland getting on the scoresheet therefore the main selection for this fixture is Mexico to win and both teams to score.
