Euro 2020 Betting Tips

Euro 2020 Betting Tips are here…Euro 2020 gets underway in Rome on Friday evening with Turkey lining up against Italy in what could be one of the most underrated matches of the tournament. There is no clear favourite to lift the trophy this year with several possible contenders which should make it one of the best European Championships of the past decade.

Below, we take a look at some of the most popular Euro betting markets and share our thoughts and tips. Before placing any of your Euro 2020 bets, be sure to compare the best betting sites to make sure that you’re getting the best odds.

Euro 2020 Winner

France – 5/1

Odds on the winner of Euro 2020 have fluctuated relatively small amounts over recent weeks and currently, France are the bookies favourites. For me, that’s how it should be as the 2018 World Cup winners have a host of talent that is a match for any other team in the world. However, although I do expect them to progress to the later stages in the tournament, I would rather not take them at odds of around 5/1 or shorter. Didier Deschamps side are in the toughest group along with Germany, Portugal and Hungry and they will have to be in their best form to go all the way. Considering they will most likely face some tough sides on the road to the final, I would rather back them to qualify from each stage individually at smaller stakes.

Italy – 9/1 (Outsider)

The price on Italy winning Euro 2020 has shortened in recent days from around 11/1 to 9/1 or less following the continuation of excellent form in their warm-up matches. They are now unbeaten in their last 27 matches and have proved to be solid as well as capable of finding the net. For me, odds of 9/1 on Italy show value although I do expect them to have one of the harder routes to the final based on my predictions on the group results.

Turkey (BIG Outsider) – 50/1

Turkey have the potential to do very well in this tournament and although they’re in the same group as Italy, I expect them to finish second and face teams that they may be more suited against. I can see Turkey making it to the quarters or even semi-finals and if they do, they’ll be in with a shot of the trophy. The odds on Turkey have also shortened recently from around 66/1 to just 50/1 but I think they make a good value each way bet.

Top Scorer

Historically, the top goalscorer of the Euros has played for a side that has made it to the final which makes sense as they have more time on the pitch to score. Therefore, it’s logical to select players from teams that you expect to do well.

Harry Kane – 6/1

Although I don’t expect England to win Euro 2020, I do think that they’ll do well and if they do, Harry Kane will score goals. He’s the sole target man for England and capable of scoring goals from set pieces, open play, and penalties. Although odds on Kane are quite short at 6/1, I do think that he’s in with a shot of claiming the Golden Boost this year.

Ciro Immobile 22/1 (Outsider)

Ciro Immobile won the Serie A top scorer award as well as the European Golden Shoe in 2020, scoring 36 goals for his club Lazio. He beat the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Lionel Messi that season and although he didn’t match that record this season, he still managed to net 20 goals in 35 appearances. If Italy do well, Immobile should be in with a shout of the Euro 2020 Top Scorer award.

Burak Yilmaz 50/1 (BIG Outsider)

Following on from my prediction of Turkey to do well, I think their star forward Burak Yilmaz has an each way chance of being the top goalscorer. Following his move to French side Lille in 2020 (his first season in any top-five European league), he finished as their top scorer and played a huge part in their winning their first league title since 2010/11, beating PSG who have won the league in seven of the past eight seasons. At 35 years of age, he certainly has experience on his side and I fancy him to find the net on multiple occasions throughout the tournament.
