There are many ways of spotting a fake, and that usually comes in the form of fake results and false claims. To begin with, we find the historical results and verify them independantly agains tour own real bets on the tipster’s actual selections.
Some tipsters don’t answer emails, and for us thats a big red flag as well as if the service is unusually expensive, if there are no contact details for a tipster, it simply won’t get looked at by us, and you should definitely avoid it too.
Performance Verification
We follow every selection for a tipster during our proofing period of 3 months, we record all selections during that time, and we stake the advised stakes at the advised odds (if odds are available). This way, we can prove the tipster’s selections are real and not cherry-picked, we can also check their advised ROI to our actual ROI from bettin gon their tips.
Minimum Proof Period
3 Months minimum for every tipster review, this is a good sample of time to get a view of how good a tipster is. Sometimes we may trial a service for longer if there’s a good reason to.
Real World Testing
Sometimes, when you use a tipster service, their results and their profits are based on the odds at the time the selection was given. If the odds are not available or are false, then this completely undermines the tipster’s profitability and advised ROI.
We aim to follow all selections during the 3-month testing period, recording the selection, the odds advised, the odds actually available at the time and the real-world profit and loss data, including ROI.
Creating our own data means we can find any fake results, deleted selections, or any attempts at fudging the numbers to dupe people.

Once we have completed our three-month trial period, we analyse each tipster on this set of metrics

Tipsters that tick all the boxes are responsive to emails from customers, keep full, accurate profit and loss records, advise a staking plan and a betting bank and are consistently profiting over time from their tips are highly likely to get a high review score.
The higher a tipster’s review score, the more trustworthy and profitable we deem it to be. Our review score is out of 5, and the higher the score, the better. We also sub-score each tipster based on profitability, odds availability and price.
Metrics we look at include
ROI – Return on Investment, the amount of profit you can achieve following a tipster’s selections, with your stakes taken into consideration. For example, you follow a tipster’s selections for a month, and you bet £1000, your overall returns for the bets were £1100, meaning you have £100 profit and 10% ROI for that month.
Strike Rate – How often the tipster wins, for example, he gives 100 selections for the month and wins only 10, he has a 10% strike rate.
Drawdown – This measure of the betting bank overall, including the biggest loss points as well as the high points. For example, if you join a tipster and in month 1 he loses £1500 and in month two and three he makes £500, you are still actually £500 down overall.
Betting Bank Growth – How much your betting bank has grown whilst following a tipster’s selections. For instance, if you start with an advised betting bank of £1000 and end the month with £1200, your bank will have grown by 20%.
Odds Availability – As mentioned above, a tipster may advise a horse at 20/1, but if you can only get 8/1, it makes the tipster’s profit and loss records a bit less trustworthy if it keeps happening.
Consistency – This is key for a good tipster service, a service that delivers profit over time is professionally run and doesn’t disappear after a fe wmonth sis gold.
Red Flags We Avoid And Look For
- Guaranteed profits
- Fixed matches
- Missing losing bets
- Edited records
- Unrealistic ROI claims
- No verified history
Fixed matches are not only illegaly 99% of the time they are a scam aimed at stealing your money. Tipsters who remove or miss out on losing bets or edit their records to suit or improve their ROI are also not going to make the cut.
The same goes for a tipster without any records at all; there is just no point in joining it.

Do tipsters pay for reviews?
No. A positive review cannot be purchased, and a negative review cannot be removed. Affiliate commissions do not influence our ratings.
Can a negative review be removed?
Only if there is a good reason too, whether it’s an error or the service has been improved over time, etc. We often update our tipster reviews sometimes; good tipsters become poor, and vice versa.
How often are ratings updated?
Usually, every month or so, we keep an eye on all the tipsters we review and update review scores accordingly to reflect their current performances.
