How Sister Sites can benefit punters on a day-to-day basis

If you are new to the betting scene, you have probably not heard the term ‘sister site’ before. Those who have been punting for a white, on the other hand, are likely somewhat familiar with the idea.

To put it simply, sister sites are when two (or more) sites have the same owner or operator, connecting them in one way or another. This can result in a site looking the same or having similar APIs; alternatively, they may be completely different products.

The biggest example is probably Coral and Ladbrokes, with the sites sharing several features; the interfaces are almost identical, whilst the inclusion of an in-bookie currency reinforces the links.

We have seen more and more of the big bookmakers connecting recently, and as BettingLounge relayed, Sky Bet recently underwent changes to reflect the look of its sister sites, Paddy Power and Betfair, which certainly got a few people talking.

So, as punters, how can we actually use sister sites to our advantage?

Betting smarter

With a sister site, most of the time, the odds are the same. However, we can often find a few disparities, which can provide us with some nice opportunities. Looking at a Premier League fixture, Sky Bet offers a completely different price on all of the win markets to its sister, Paddy Power.

So, this is where we can use the sister to get a better value, whilst not really experiencing much of a different interface. This is also the case with BetMGM and Virgin Bet – two sites that share the same sportsbook.

Alternatively, this also works for the flip side of things. Say a price is too good on one site, you can also check if its sister sites are offering the same price and double down. Unfortunately, though, it can be quite difficult sometimes to find relatives.

However, our favourite option to aid with this process is FindSisterSites.com, which offers an exclusive tool to find the different sisters related to your choice of bookmaker. It is now a must for us when looking through the odds.

Additionally, the site provides additional news about sites and partnerships, so it is a good way of keeping track of what is happening with your favourite bookmakers.

Multiple accounts

What is becoming a bigger issue with betting today is that accounts, especially when you are winning money, are getting shut down quicker by the most recognisable bookmakers. So, this is where people need to find alternatives.

With sister sites, these restrictions often do not apply. So, that means you are able to punt on a similar platform, perhaps without the restrictions of another site. For example, if you are banned from promotions on Virgin Bet, you may not be on its sister site LiveScore Bet or even BetMGM.

This is where using a sister site can be great. Additionally, a lot of the time, there are similar promotions offered across the board, so you may be able to rack up a nice amount of free bets by making the most of the sister sites’ offers.

Account sign-ups

A final thing to mention is that with most sister sites, customers are able to claim the sign-up offer that is offered to new customers. Normally, the offers stay similar across the board, too, meaning a company that might offer £30 in free bets on one site often does the same for its sister.

As a result, this means that you can rack up quite a bit of money in free bets, just from trying the sites that are related to one another.

Of course, the deeper you go into the hole of sister sites, the more offers you will find – this is not always a good thing, for what it is worth – but the idea remains largely the same.
