Cleeve Racing Ten to Follow guide 2018

Cheltenham Non Runners

Thistlecrack Back For Cheltenham NO

There has already been a lot of Cheltenham Non-Runners before the festival starts but will that affect one of the most famous horse racing meetings on the calendar?

Arguably one of the most exciting runners and Gold Cup favourite Thistlecrack was pulled out last week with a tendon injury, along with other big names such as Min and Annie power where also ruled out through injury.

Willie Mullins has had a big blow with his trio all being ruled out and punters are starting to ask if Cheltenham is going to be worth going to this year, with all the big named horses being pulled out so close to the start of the meeting.

Arguably this years fixture may see some bigger priced winners due to the absence of some of the big names it throws open the doors to some of the upcoming horses.

Cheltenham Bars To Close Early And Limit Drink This Year

Racegoers will now only be able to purchase 4 drinks at a time in a new policy from the jockey club in an attempt to reduce anti social behaviour and drunkenness that has been seen in previous festival meetings.

There are 26 pubs and bars around the racecourse and each will have a “water point”, where free bottles of water will be given out at the end of the day, while the complimentary bars in the corporate hospitality boxes will close earlier than before.

“Our message is to enjoy yourself and have a great day out at the races but don’t come here purely to drink,” said Ian Renton, chief executive of the festival.
