Welcome to my Champion Hurdle 2017 Preview
The absence of two major Willie Mullins horses in this years renewal has left it wide open for punters trying to find the winner. Both Annie Power and Faugheen will not take part in this race this time around and favourite backers may be left scratching their heads.
Champion Hurdle 2017 Preview
Step in Yanworth the new favourite for the race now the other two big players have been pulled out, he has all the credentials needed to win this race he acts on good to soft, soft and heavy going but does seem to show a slight preference for the mud.
Winning 9 out of 12 of his races including the Grade 1 Christmas hurdle where he had The New One and Ch’tibello in behind him that day he does look a solid win bet for this race.
However there are some other good horses in this race most notably Brain Power who bolted up in the Ladbroke Hurdle at Ascot under top weight and has been targeted at this race say his connections. He also has more scope for improvement than a lot of the other runners in the field for this race.
Mullins does have two horses in the race at the time of writing both Yorkhill and Vroum Vroum Mag however having multiple entries its not clear which race they are targeted at just yet, but chances are for both of them is they will be running in another of the big races where they stand more of a chance for win purposes.
My Tent Or Yours still retains ability and could prove a danger he stays on very well when under pressure and does like it at Cheltenham. In what could be a complete surprise package of a race it should pay to follow the form horses here.
Petit Mouchoir could be one to spring a surprise an Irish raider from the Henry De Bromhead yard has already claimed the scalp of Footpad and Nichols Canyon and has also followed Apples Jade home in a Grade 2 race last year.
All in all I think Yanworth is a worthy favourite but I do not think he will have it easy when the finish comes there are a number of rivals here that could improve on the day, however some will need to do that to figure.

Champion Hurdle 2017 Tips
Back – >Yanworth To Win – Has to be a win bet as his price is around the 4/1 mark and wont last too long as we get closer to the meeting. Looks solid and should be there or thereabouts.
Back – > Brain Power E/W – With plenty of scope for improvement and good form already in the book he looks a live danger to Yanworth here abd barring any hiccups he should be the one following Yanworth home.
Petit Mouchoir is also very much of interest and may be worth backing each way to cover your bets.
