Example Write Up from The Racing Raider

24/02/2024 13:15 Kempton – Mark Of Gold 8/1 – 0.5 Points Each Way

This horse has a fascinating profile, he actually won the race off 7 pounds lower last year which was coming off a fall in the Lanzarote. This time he also comes into this after a fall in the Lanzarote. We get the very good value Caolin Quinn on board who takes 3 pounds off. Therefore he is only effectively 4 pounds higher than when he won by 15 lengths. Horses have a funny way of following habit and patterns repeating and I think he rates a good each way bet.

Who is The Racing Raider?

Find out more about The Racing Raider

I first fell in love with horse racing when I went to the races for my 18th birthday and by sheer chance had a few winners! I was working in a pub at the time in order to earn some travelling money and had made the same money as two pub shifts just for picking a couple of winners. I knew this was something I wanted to get better at and from this point my interest only grew. After a few years of being an erratic punter I took many knocks but slowly started to learn how to make it pay.

I grew up in Berkshire, so have always been spoilt for choice with several racetracks not too far away from home . My favourite track initially was always Ascot, with a preference for the jump season as opposed to the flat. Nowadays, I follow both codes very closely but do have a marginal preference for jump racing due to the fact horses return to run year after year. My favourite meeting of the year is the Cheltenham Festival. Historically, I have tended to do well at the Festival (profitable last 5 years) which is something of which I am very proud.

A few years ago I would do a lot of ante-post betting for Cheltenham, however due to bookmakers squeezing the prices available I now tend to wait for the day, where there are less unknown variables.

I tend to prefer sticking to the higher class race meets since this is where I have good knowledge and a competitive edge. The majority of my tips will therefore be at festivals or towards the back end of the week and of course weekends. I will still throw in mid week tips where appropriate.

I advise bets based on the horse’s odds and my estimated chance of the horse winning. For example if I believe the horse has a 50% chance of winning a race then any odds above even money would be a good bet.

I am happy to tip multiple horses in races particularly at the big festivals. When I believe I have an edge, then backing multiple horses in the race just increases that edge.

Moreover it increases our chances of backing winners which is why we are all here. In terms of prices I tend not to tip too much below even money. I am also a big fan of multiples, as on the day where you have 4/4 winners, you don’t want to have only singles in play and the dream of a big win really excites me.

I am a numerical person and I enjoy the challenge of analysing information to find an edge on the market. This probably explains why I find the puzzle of breaking down a race so fascinating.

Should you subscribe, I can assure you I am putting a lot of thought and research into these tips and am backing them myself. So I will feel the ups and the downs just as much if not more than you! With the Cheltenham Festival just round the corner this would be the ideal time to give me a trial go as it is historically where I have performed best.
